GENERAL NEWS

SAVE THE DATE!

ree

It has almost been 20 weeks since we released our first issue of the blog! We have seen some incredible stories and have got to know so many of the amazing things our lifesavers get up to! With only one month left of 2025, you are in for a treat! We would like to announce a special Christmas Issue which will be released on New Year’s Eve! In this blog, we will celebrate some of the truly incredible achievements our lifesavers have had in the previous year. We will also look at some of the fun our lifesavers have got up to over the Christmas break, including a visit from a very special guest!

MOMENTS ON PATROL

7/12/25

It was a cold and windy day for Patrols 8 and 9 who had to close the beach. The Bronze Medallion participants conducted a run-swim-run and practice rescue at Fisho’s and have now become qualified lifesavers!

For Patrol 4, the conditions were perfect, with the sun shining and a small swell. With the weather getting warmer, the beach is getting busier, but the patrol took many preventative actions to ensure everyone was safe!

SPORTS

GOLD FOR THE QUIRKY ERKS

Last issue we had the opportunity to meet our new Reserve Female Surf Boat team who, after much consideration, have come up with the team name: Quirky Erks! On December 6, the Quirky Erks took to Mollymook Beach to participate in the Warilla Bowls Surf Boat Premiership, their first competition of the season!

For Bri and Stacey, this was their first competition ever, which you would never have guessed from their results! Throughout the day, the team competed in three different surf boat heats where they took home gold for all three. These outstanding results meant they became the female reserve grade winners, an impressive result for their first comp rowing together!

The team's Stroke, Ruby Peterlin, mentions how the conditions set them up for success!

“The conditions were perfect to gradually ease into the season, with a sunny day and a small swell.”

Although the day left them tired and slightly sunburnt, the carnival allowed them to put their intense training in action, as well as getting to further bond as a team!

“There were lots of smiles throughout the day and we were super stoked to have come out on top for the day!”

The surf club is so excited to see how this team and our others perform at their next carnival (more details coming soon)!

NIPPERS

ree

The conditions were perfect to celebrate the final Nippers session before Christmas break!

The Nippers competed in the Queen and King of the Hill event which had some amazing results. To finish up the morning, the Nippers received a visit from a special guest (find out who in the next issue)!
