GENERAL NEWS
WHAT LIFESAVERS GET UP TO!
As much as lifesavers dream of a day of perfect conditions, it is not always the case. Have you ever wondered what the lifesavers get up to when the beach is closed?
On the 9th November, Patrol 2 closed the beach due to unsafe surf conditions - this did not mean their day had to be ruined though!

1:30 pm
Lifesavers: Alex, Nick, Laura, Chris, Lucy, Beth, Olive and Aurora arrived at the beach to take over from the earlier patrol. After an update from the morning patrol, they caught up and monitored the beach from the warmth of the shed.
2:00 pm
Aurora and Olive took the ATV for a spin to ensure no one was in trouble further down the beach and assess the conditions. Back at the shed, the remaining lifesavers started to tidy up the equipment.

2:27 pm
Laura and Chris headed over to the Nippers' shed to maintain the Nippers' boards. This included cleaning, refitting fins and filling in dings.
2:40 pm
Whilst Laura and Chris were fixing the boards, the rest of the patrol put on some music and had a dance party, showing off some of their best moves!
3:00 pm
At about the half-way mark of the patrol, Lucy, Chris, Beth, Olive and Aurora, played an intense game of cricket. Aurora and Chris were the best bowlers with Olive being the best batter - it is clear though, that our lifesavers still need to brush up on their cricket skills!

4:00 pm
Chris and Beth had a walk along the beach to collect any rubbish left behind.
4:30 pm
After the winds began to calm, the lifesavers headed down to the beach to practise essential skills such as sprinting and remembering signals.
5:00 pm
For the last hour of patrol, Patrol 2 packed up the flags, trailer, ATV and IRB ready to go home!
MOMENTS ON PATROL

16/11/25
Patrol 8 had a great day on the beach with both IRB’s operational. Training began for IRB crew and driver where participants enjoyed learning the essential skills to operate and conduct IRB rescues. During the day, lifesavers performed three successful first aids. The evening saw the Nippers arrive at the beach for Twilight Nippers.
23/11/25
Due to unsafe conditions and rain, Nippers was cancelled in the morning. However, as the conditions began to ease and the sun began to shine, lifesavers were able to open the beach and enjoy a nice day on patrol!
